Our Story

Whilst Bacton had a modern/middle school, an evening class called ‘handicrafts’ (later known as resistant materials crafts) took place here one evening a week, for over 40 years! People from the village, and the surrounding area, regularly attended during this time until the school building closed in 2015.

The group (including their tutor) were very disappointed with the news but wished to continue with resistant material crafts, working on personal projects in a friendly, supportive, and enjoyable environment. 1 year before the school’s official closure, plans were made by the evening class members to form a non-profit making organisation, and to find new workshop premises. Those members became the foundation of The Bacton Community Workshop and what you see in this exhibition is the successful outcome from the efforts made to achieve this goal!

Our new workshop was fully established by the end of 2015 and continues to grow and develop. The facilities we provide are extensive and is excellent value for money! We extend a warm welcome to our visitors and hope you will consider joining us! Whether you are experienced, or a novice, we invite you to come and chat with some of the members or arrange to view our facilities at Bacton Business Park.
